Introducing TUF-STRAND NexSlab™

The Next Generation of Slab-on-Ground
Fiber Reinforced Concrete Design

Euclid Chemical is pleased to introduce TUF-STRAND NexSlab™, a new slab-on-ground design platform developed to help engineers evaluate fiber reinforced concrete solutions using TUF-STRAND SF synthetic macrofibers. Built around the TR34 design methodology, NexSlab provides engineers with a modern, comprehensive platform for evaluating slab performance under a wide range of loading conditions while providing greater visibility into design assumptions, calculations, governing conditions, and results.

Building on Our Previous Design Tools

For years, Euclid Chemical has provided slab-on-ground design tools to support engineers evaluating TUF-STRAND SF solutions. NexSlab builds on that experience while introducing a completely redesigned platform, expanded engineering capabilities, and a more transparent design workflow. Rather than simply updating the previous software, NexSlab was developed as a new platform from the ground up. The new generation incorporates an enhanced TR34 based methodology, expanded loading and analysis capabilities, more detailed calculation outputs, and a comprehensive engineering report while providing a flexible foundation for continued development and future design modules.

From Slab Inputs to a Complete Engineering Analysis

NexSlab guides users through the slab evaluation process, beginning with the fundamental design parameters, including concrete properties, subgrade conditions, slab geometry, environmental conditions, and TUF-STRAND SF residual strength performance. Users can then define the loading conditions applicable to their project, including:

  • rack post loads
  • lift trucks
  • vehicles
  • uniform loads
  • line loads

The software evaluates critical loading conditions at different slab locations including interior, edge, and corner conditions, considering applicable single, dual, and quadruple load configurations. Users select a proposed TUF-STRAND SF dosage and can then review the resulting utilization factors to determine how the proposed slab performs. This makes it possible to identify the governing conditions and, when necessary, adjust the slab or reinforcement parameters and run the analysis again.

Designed for Transparency

One of the primary objectives behind NexSlab was to provide engineers with greater visibility into the calculations behind the analysis. Preliminary calculations and utilization factors can be reviewed throughout the design process. Once the analysis is complete, NexSlab generates a detailed report showing the project inputs, design assumptions, material properties, loading conditions, fiber performance, governing load combinations, utilization factors, and the associated calculations.

Based on Fiber Performance

NexSlab incorporates TUF-STRAND SF residual flexural performance into the slab analysis using EN 14651 residual strength parameters, including fr1 and fr4, consistent with the TR34 design framework. This performance based approach allows fiber reinforcement to be evaluated as part of the overall slab system rather than simply based on fiber dosage.

More Than a New Design Tool

The launch of NexSlab is part of a broader effort to provide engineers, consultants, contractors, and other construction professionals with better resources for evaluating fiber reinforced concrete. Alongside NexSlab, Euclid Chemical has also launched a newly redesigned TUF-STRAND website, bringing together product information, technical resources, design tools, calculators, and access to NexSlab in one modernized platform.

Request Access to NexSlab

NexSlab is available through slab.tufstrand.com. Users can now request credentials directly through the TUF-STRAND website, providing a simpler and faster process to gain access to the platform. Euclid Chemical's technical team can also provide training and support to help engineering firms become familiar with NexSlab, its design methodology, and its application for slab-on-ground projects.

Important Note: NexSlab is an engineering analysis tool intended to assist qualified design professionals in evaluating slab-on-ground systems incorporating TUF-STRAND SF. The software does not replace the professional judgment of the Engineer of Record. Final design decisions, project specific requirements, and approval of the structural design remain the responsibility of the project's qualified design professional.
